GALENA- After nearly dragging a Police Officer down the Yukon River in a boat, one Galena man is facing numerous charges.
According to court documents, 24-year-old Garrett Huntington is charged with felony assault, criminal trespass, and unlawful contact in the first degree, along with other charges, after police say he ran from the scene of a dispute.
An affidavit stated Huntington fled after an apparent fight with his family; he then jumped into a boat to escape.
The Police officer chasing him was injured while attempting to jump onto the boat after an attempt to tase Huntington was unsuccessful.
Another officer was able to successfully stop Huntington before he was able to drag the injured police officer (who was hanging onto his boat) further into the Yukon River.
Huntington was brought to Fairbanks where was arraigned yesterday in District Court.
