Tyson Foods will be making a large donation to the Fairbanks Community Food Bank next week, thanks to the local Future Farmers of America, or F-F-A Group.
The local F-F-A chapter won a national competition based on community service, and in the end, chose the Food bank as the recipient of the generous donation.
The check presentation by David Townsend, the President of National F-F-A, will be at the Food Bank on Wednesday, February 22nd at 5:15 P-M.
CEO of the Food Bank, Ann Weaver, told us "What a lot of our big companies, like Sam's Club and the Walmart Foundation, Fred Meyer's, Kroger, and all of those have discovered about Interior Alaska is that Fairbanks is a very strong community. So it's fun because when an opportunity like this comes out, and they talk about supporting your local food bank, we're their local food bank. It was the Fairbanks and Mat-Su Valley areas that that these particular FFA Chapters are located in. And so they said that if we're going to win this, it really needs to go to our local food bank. And so that's what tied the pieces together."
